PROCEEDINGS AT INQUIRY ON WEDNESDAY, 26 MARCH 2003

The Inquiry reconvened at 10.00 am when Mr J Turvey presented his evidence in objection to the proposal. He received questions put to him by Mr Sauvain (TWPTA) and by the Inspector. Mr L Perks OBE then presented his evidence in objection to the new tunnel. The Inquiry adjourned for lunch at 12 noon.

The Inquiry reconvened at 4.00 pm when Mrs McDougall presented her evidence objecting to the New Tyne Crossing questions were put to her by Mr Sauvain for the TWPTA and by the Inspector. Representatives from the Epinay Walk Estate then asked the Inspector if they could present their evidence later in the day to allow others from the estate to attend. The Inspector agreed and adjourned the Inquiry until 7.00 pm.

The Inquiry reconvened at 7.00 pm when a number of residents of Epinay Walk Estate made representations in support of their objection to the proposed New Tyne Crossing. Clarification of a number of issues were given by Mr Sauvain (TWPTA) and the Inspector. The Inspector then adjourned the Inquiry at 8.10 pm.

The Inquiry will reconvene at 10.00 am on Thursday, 27 March 2003 when evidence is expected to be presented by Dr Tim Richardson - Friends of the Earth in the morning and Mr Tim Deere-Jones - Friends of the Earth in the afternoon.
