PROCEEDINGS AT INQUIRY ON TUESDAY, 25 MARCH 2003

The Inquiry recommenced at 10.00 am when Mr Brian Ham of One North East presented evidence in support of the proposed New Tyne Crossing. Mr Ham received and answered questions put to him by Mr Murphy of NECTAR, Mrs Love of Living Streets, Mr Careless (resident of Epinay Walk), Mr Winch of the Tyne Crossings Alliance and the Inspector.
Following this Mrs Love of Living Streets and Ms Pamela Woolner of the North East Green Party represented their evidence objecting to the proposals. They received and answered questions put to them by Mr Sauvain (TWPTA) and the Inspector. Mrs Lowe also answered a question put by Mr Stan Smith who supports the proposal. The Inquiry then adjourned for lunch at 1.00 pm.

The Inquiry recommenced at 2.00 pm when Mr Winch presented his evidence in objection to the scheme. Questions were put to him by Mr Sauvain and the Inspector.
The Inquiry adjourned at 5.35 pm and will recommence at 10.00 am on Wednesday, 26 March 2003. It is expected that evidence will be presented in the morning by Mr John Turvey of Tyne Bikes and Mr L Perks OBE who both object to the proposal.
The
evidence of Residents of the ‘Epinay Walk’ Estate and Mrs H McDougall
who also object to the proposal will be submitted after 4.00 pm. The Inspector
has allowed an opportunity for representatives of the Epinay Estate to put
questions to him between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm.
