Evidence was given by Professor Howard Elcock on behalf of CPRE, who was cross-examined by Mr Sauvain for the TWPTA and questioned by the Inspector.

Next the Inquiry heard evidence from Mr Bryan Atkinson, Co-ordinator of South Tyneside Friends of the Earth. He was cross-examined by Mr Sauvain for the TWPTA and questioned by the Inspector.

The Inquiry was due to hear evidence from the Jarrow Area Forum. Unfortunately they were unable to attend and efforts will be made to reschedule them into the programme at a time, which is more convenient for them.

The Inquiry adjourned at 2.00 pm and will reopen on Tuesday, 25 March 2003 at 10.00 am when it is expected that evidence will be presented by One North East who supports the proposal and Living Streets, North East Green Party, Mr Brian Kirkdale, the Tyne Crossing’s Alliance and Mr Winch who all object to the New Tyne Crossing.
