PROCEEDINGS AT INQUIRY ON FRIDAY 7 MARCH 2003

The Inquiry reconvened at 9.30am when the evidence of Mr Colin Jubb on Landscaping was delivered. Mr Jubb addressed questions put to him by the Inspector and later from Mr Winch of the Tyne Crossings Alliance and Mr Careless (resident of Epinay Walk, Jarrow).

Mr Fenwick presented his evidence on Property, Acquisitions and Interests prior to the mid-day adjournment for lunch.

Following lunch questions were put to Mr Fenwick by the Inspector, Ms Hasson and Ms Kirby (residents of Epinay Walk, Jarrow), Mr Winch of the Tyne Crossings Alliance and Mr Murphy of Nectar.

Mr Tunnell then presented his evidence on wider economic benefits of the New Tyne Crossing following which he received and responded to questions from the Inspector, Mr Smith (supporter), Mr A Careless (resident of Epinay Walk), Mr Murphy of Nectar and Mr Winch of Tyne Crossings Alliance.

The Inquiry then adjourned for the weekend and will reconvene at 10.00am on Tuesday 11 March 2003. On that day it is expected that evidence will be given by Dr Bull on Air Quality, Mr Challinor on Water Quality, Mr Lofthouse on Spoil and Waste Management and Dr Johnson on Environmental matters. It should be noted that Mr Manning will not now be available to present his evidence to the Inquiry therefore the Inspector will allow written questions on Mr Manning’s evidence to be submitted to the Inquiry.
